Now this will be interesting. Derrick Rose, who has been slowly drifting away in terms of the MVP playing level we saw in 2011, who has succumbed to many injuries that cause him to disappear for seasons at a time, who is pretty overrated in my opinion, has been traded to the New York Knicks.
Now don't get me wrong, D-Rose used to be a great player back in the day. He could make those flashy passes that all point guard dreams to do, he could posterize centers, he was good. But now he is just...an average players. Now that D-Rose has some teammates to work with, he can create some magic. (Not saying anything against you, Jimmy Butler. It's just...you and Derrick aren't right for each other.)
1. Carmelo Anthony’s Burdens are Shared
With D-Rose in New York, Carmelo can now focus on scoring and not try to play every position and while holding up the entire team. My guess is that this season his points per game will go up a decent amount. I’m not expecting a ton, because Carmelo is getting old and a little inconsistent, but still quite a bit.
2. Porzingis Can Develop
As with Porzingis, I think It'll be really good for him to have two veterans to learn from. He was already a runner-up for the Rookie of the Year so he’s proved that he has what it takes to be an above average player in his first year in the league. We can expect a lot of development in his game.
3. The Knicks Needed a Point Guard
They really did. I think that was one of their main problems on the long list. Teams need point guards to be successful. Look at the Cavs and Warriors, they have Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving. It’s really hard not to have an experienced point guard and be competitive.
